(Bangkok Post file photo)The Supreme Court on Tuesday sentenced Pracha Pothipipit, alias Kamnan Sia, a former Democrat MP for Kanchanaburi, to two years and eight months in jail for encroachment on more than 1,000 rai of state land in Kanchanaburi and Ratchaburi provinces. On Aug 29, 2014, the court sentenced him to one year in prison without suspension for violating the Land Act. The Supreme Court initially set March 10 for the delivery of its ruling, but Pracha did not show up. In his absence, the Supreme Court read out the judgement on Tuesday, sentencing Pracha to two years and eight months in jail.
